I have a 4G version on it’s way to me for tomorrow. Can’t wait to have a play and see what all the hype is about. I’ll post my comments/thoughts up when I have tested it for a bit.
t00t
Ryan asked what the desktop is like so here we go:

Ryan McLean:

It turned up, and yes, you do really want one. They are soooo small and handy it’s unbelievable! Many a hack to come

maybe look at them after xmas.. bought a dell vostro 1500 there in August.
But the EEE PC would be perfect for the missus.
Whats the desktop like does it hide the “linuxness” of it well (as the missus doesn’t like complicated computer things)?

The desktop is really really nice, I switched to advanced user mode and within 30 minutes switched back to the default. It’s skinable, customisable and so so cute. I’ll screeny it and post a pic…..

So on a techy scale of 1-10 (1 being the sort of person that shouldnt even be allowed a pencil in case they stab them selves, 5 being the sort of average person that can get as far as opening a web browser by themselves, and 10 being a 1337 H4×0r) How Techy do you have to be to use it?
12 December 2007, 12:00 pmNeil Lathwood:
I’ll put that one in the hands of my mum to try out
I left it with her last night so she could mess around but she left it on the side whilst she did stuff and the battery ran out!
IMHO though, it’s at most a 5, as soon as you boot up it has a web icon on it immediately. Some of the basic stuff that people expect like start menu can be added in 2 seconds and you can add your own apps/customise the desktop like the name of the links and what they look like etc simply enough.

ok, well me mah has had a play and she confirmed that it is really easy to use and straight forward so I’d say around a 3 for n00b use!
Her only gripes are the keyboard and screen size but she missed the point on what this laptop is all about…
